What we do on a final grading job
Sod laid on a bad grade dies in the low spots and browns on the humps, and water that should leave the yard sits against the slab instead. A final grade is the one chance to get the surface right before grass or gravel locks it in.
We run the grade so the finished surface sheds water away from the house and toward where it belongs. On gravel drives that means a crown and shoulders that hold shape instead of washing out with the first storm.
